Q: Does Glenn’s Appliance & More sell new appliances?
A: YES! From time to time, we procure and recondition appliances to sell to our customers, but that is not our main business.
Q: Where can I get my washer repaired if I live in Goffstown NH?
A: We’re located in the Pinardville section of Goffstown and accept large and small appliances for repair at our location – except for gas dryers and gas ranges.
Q: Where can I buy a cheap washer in Manchester, NH?
A: I would never recommend going ‘cheap’ they will cost you more in the long run – they don’t last as long and cost more to run. To help your overall budget, I recommend you buy an Energy Star washer, then spend less on a dryer (most dryers will handle the load from E-Star washers). These new units will cost less to run and last longer, putting you ahead in the laundry room and your wallet. Come in and see me, I will be glad to show you a great pair to fit your needs.
Q: I’m a “Do-It-Yourselfer” should I buy Appliance Parts online?
A: Like anything else that you purchase over the internet, you need to be aware that you can be easily scammed. Low prices could be an indication of an inferior product, and appliance parts are no exception. Rarely will you find a factory authorized appliance part at a very low cost. These parts are known as ‘derivatives’ and look the same, but will not last as long, nor function, as well as the factory, authorized parts that you can buy from us. Also, when you add in the shipping and handling charges, you’re paying the same price anyway.
Q: Can you tell me how to fix my dryer?
A: Sorry, but because we are an appliance service company for liability reasons we cannot explain to you how to fix your own appliance. Call us at 603-641-0334 for an appointment. Our technicians work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. You may also bring in your appliance and for a reduced rate, we will fully repair it at our shop instead of coming to your home.
Q: I have been told that I must use HE (High Efficiency) Detergent in my front load washer. Is this correct?
A: I STRONGLY recommend the use of HE detergents in High-Efficiency Front Load Washers. Keep in mind that the tumbling motion of a front load washer lifts the clothes and then drops them back into the water. With regular laundry detergent this action “whips” air into the detergent and it becomes trapped creating over sudsing.
In addition...
you should also run a cleaning cycle once a month using a product called AFFRESH which you can get from our parts department. The use of this product will help keep your washer clean and odor-free.
Q: What is Energy Star?
A: ENERGY STAR is the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy efficiency helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.
The ENERGY STAR label was established to:
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants caused by the inefficient use of energy
• Make it easy for consumers to identify and purchase energy-efficient products that offer savings on energy bills without sacrificing performance, features, and comfort.
• ENERGY STAR qualified appliances to incorporate advanced technologies that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. Look for the ENERGY STAR Label that may appear on the appliance, the packaging or the EnergyGuide label.

Q: Is it true that I have to use special pans on a smooth top range?
A: You should use smooth, flat bottom pans on a smooth top range. The preferred pan is a good quality stainless. You should not use poor quality aluminum pans, as they can warp when heated. I do not recommend using cast iron, these pans are heavy, and they can scratch the top. Copper bottom pans are not recommended as they will reflect the heat back into the burner and shorten the life of the burner.
With that being said...
I strongly recommend the smooth top range. They have more even heat, and cleaning is easy when compared to a coil range. Feel free to stop in the showroom any time to discuss the pros and cons of the different type of cooking surfaces.
Q: Is there a best time of day or year I should run the self-clean cycle on my range?
A: I recommend that you run your self-clean cycle on a day that it is warm outside so that you can open a window for ventilation. As for how often, it depends on how much you use your oven. One thing I Suggest: DO NOT clean your oven just before a Holiday! As luck would have it, this is when bake elements seem to burn out most often, so refrain from running the self-clean cycle just before you’ll need your oven most. Although we carry many elements in stock, we may not have yours, and it may be on back order from the warehouse.
Q: Should I change the fill hoses on my washer, and if so how often?
A: Yes, you should, and I suggest every 3 to 5 years with inspection of your hoses every few months (look for bulging). When you change your hoses, I recommend either using stainless steel or the new Industrial Grade Hose.
You should only buy a hose that will allow you to insert a MESH WASHER – if you can’t you’re asking for trouble, sediment can otherwise pass through and cause your valve to stick open causing flooding, leading to thousands of dollars damage.
Q: I’ve got a stain on the tumbler of my dryer, what can I do to remove it?
A: It’s important to remove stains in your dryer drum as quickly as possible so that you don’t pass the stain onto other items you will be drying. First, I recommend a spray such as MEAN GREEN cleaner/degreaser. Second, after using this product, wipe the drum with a damp cloth rinsing periodically. And third, run the dryer at the regular temperature setting with a few rags or old towels for at least 30 minutes. Some stains can set and may never come off the drum. But those generally don’t transfer onto future loads.
Q: Why does my washer smell musty or like an old fish tank?
A: The two most common causes of ODOR in a washer are the use of too much detergent and the temperature of the water is too cold. This causes a buildup of odor-causing residue (and a great place for some other nasty stuff to grow). I have found a great product called Affresh™. You use one tablet a month and it keeps your machine clean and fresh by getting rid of the odor-causing residue. It’s also septic tank safe. We carry Affresh™ in our store.
